According to the initial investigation, at around 2:00 p.m. on December 6, Mr. Nguyen Minh T (27 years old, residing in Duy Son commune, Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province) received a phone call to book a car from Da Nang to Tra Kieu. Mr. T was covered with a coat and taken to another car. After 15 minutes of travel, he was taken to a closed room.
There, the group handcuffed Mr. T to a chair, took his phone, 3 bank cards and forced him to provide his password. They then withdrew 96 million VND from Mr. T's account. At around 9:00 p.m., the group took Mr. T back to the car on 29/3 Street. Suspecting that he had been scammed, Mr. T shouted "robbery" and was immediately threatened by a subject with a knife. Out of fear, Mr. T let the group escape. At 9:00 a.m. on December 7, Mr. T went to Cam Le District Police to report the incident.
