Previously, Nguyen Van Duong (born in 1987, residing in Quang Phu town, Cu M'Gar district, Dak Lak province) drove a tractor 29H-850.36 pulling a trailer 29R-508.18, transporting bauxite ore from Laos to Vietnam through Nam Giang International Border Gate.
Seeing suspicious signs, the authorities conducted an inspection and discovered that on the trailer driven by Nguyen Van Duong there were 2 sacks containing 15 boxes of explosive fireworks and 201 other explosive fireworks. The total weight of the evidence was 24.93 kg.
Nguyen Van Duong confessed to buying the above fireworks from Laos with the intention of bringing them back to Vietnam to use during the Lunar New Year.
Duong's actions could result in criminal prosecution with a maximum penalty of up to 15 years in prison.
The Investigation Police Agency of Nam Giang District Police has prosecuted and detained Nguyen Van Duong to investigate the act of storing and transporting prohibited goods.
The case is being investigated by authorities in accordance with the law.
