On January 3, the Investigation Police Agency of District 1 Police issued an order to temporarily detain Mr. Vu Manh Ha (53 years old, residing in District 1) to investigate the act of "Disturbing public order".
Previously, at noon on January 2, Task Force 363 of District 1 Police was patrolling on Pham Hong Thai Street (Ben Thanh Ward, District 1) when they discovered Mr. Vu Manh Ha (born in 1963, residing in District 1) chasing Mr. Lam Tri Minh (born in 1996, residing in District 4) with a knife. At that time, Mr. Minh was holding a metal chair in his hand.
Task Force 363 controlled and arrested these two people along with some related people and brought them to the police station. Initially, the police determined that at around 9:52 a.m. the same day, Mr. Minh (a shipper) called Ms. Le Thi Kim Phuong (born in 1963) to deliver the goods.
Because Mr. Minh was in the company warehouse, the phone signal was weak so he could not hear what Ms. Phuong said. After that, Ms. Phuong texted Mr. Minh to curse.
At 12 noon the same day, Mr. Minh delivered the goods to a customer at 14 Pham Hong Thai Street when Ms. Phuong came and scolded him. Mr. Minh left, but then returned to get the customer's money and was scolded again by Ms. Phuong.
Ms. Phuong then called her husband, Mr. Ha, to tell him what had happened. When Mr. Ha came home, he cursed and used his hat to hit Mr. Minh. When he was hit, Mr. Minh fought back. Mr. Nguyen The Hien (also a shipper, working at the same company as Mr. Minh) saw this and jumped in to hit Mr. Ha.
Seeing Ms. Phuong holding a knife, Mr. Ha grabbed it and chased Mr. Hien, causing him to fall onto his motorbike. After that, Mr. Ha continued to beat Mr. Hien. At that moment, the 363 task force on patrol discovered and controlled the group, bringing them back to headquarters.
District 1 Police have issued an order to temporarily detain Mr. Vu Manh Ha and continue to investigate, clarify, and strictly handle cases related to the incident.
