The land area of over 20 hectares is located right in the center of Ninh Binh city (in Dong Thanh ward, Ninh Binh city), considered one of the "golden lands" because of its prime location and convenient traffic, so the land price here is up to tens of millions of VND/m2.
According to the investigation of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, from 2009 to 2013, Ninh Binh City People's Committee invested hundreds of billions of VND to build infrastructure and auction the above land to increase budget revenue for the province.
However, 15 years have passed, after many unsuccessful auctions, this "golden" land is still abandoned, overgrown with weeds, many items such as sidewalks, concrete roads, drainage systems... have seriously degraded, causing waste.
Looking at the "golden land" that has been abandoned for many years, Mr. Nguyen Tien Luc (residing in Dong Thanh ward, Ninh Binh city) said: "Every day I go to exercise in the morning in this area. Seeing the land in a prime location but abandoned, with degraded infrastructure, is really a waste."
On the morning of December 19, according to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, the entire land area of more than 20 hectares has been invested in making roads, sidewalks, drainage systems... However, due to being abandoned for many years, some items have degraded, the sidewalk has been paved with bricks, and the embankment has been made, but many sections are damaged and overgrown with weeds.
The inside of the land is used to grow some types of trees, fruit trees... Some locations are illegally dumped by people, causing loss of urban beauty.
Speaking with Lao Dong reporter, a representative of Ninh Binh city's leadership said that the reason the above land cannot be auctioned is because of problems in planning the development of Ninh Binh city.
"Currently, Ninh Binh city is temporarily assigning organizations such as the Youth Union, Veterans Association... of the city to clean up garbage, weeds and plant trees on this land to create a landscape" - said a representative of Ninh Binh city's leadership.
