Going to work for hire in the morning and sleeping in a townhouse for nearly ten billion VND at night is a real story that is happening every day on Me Linh Street (Da Nang City).
Many vacant commercial townhouses worth nearly ten billion VND here are being used, divided into small rooms with rental prices ranging from only 2.5-3 million VND/room/month.
In his third time moving, Mr. Nguyen Van Nhat (born in 1992, character name changed, renting a room on Me Linh street) decided to rent a room here for 3 million VND/month to facilitate living even though it is nearly 10km from his workplace.

"The rental price of a house in the central area of Da Nang is expensive, I felt quite pressured, so I had to accept going to work a little away to save costs. Although far from work, the rental space here is quite airy, suitable for my needs" - Mr. Nhat said.
Originally from Quang Tri province but working in Da Nang city, Ms. Nguyen Mai Hoa has also come here for more than 3 months to rent a room for 2.5 million VND/month.
According to Ms. Hoa, rooms located on the balcony will have a rental price of more than 500,000 VND/month. After many changes to a room, she also changed direction to look for a place in the suburbs, accepting to move a little further to have a more comfortable living space.
The report of the Statistics Office (Ministry of Finance) shows that for the North Central and Central Coast regions, the average monthly income of workers in the second quarter of 2025 reached 7.3 million VND.
Some localities in this region also recorded an average monthly income of 9.6 million VND, such as Da Nang City.

Explaining this development, Mr. Dinh Minh Tuan - Director of Batdongsan.com.vn - informed that the demand for housing for workers in large cities has always remained high.
Data from the website Batdongsan.com.vn shows that rental houses and apartments are the growth segment in the rental market this year. Compared to the end of 2024, the level of interest in this segment increased by 12-15%/month.
To reduce pressure on boarding houses and inner-city apartments, social housing is considered an effective solution, helping workers to rent at low costs, have adequate facilities and ensure security and safety.
Many real estate experts propose that it is necessary to promote the supply of social housing for purchase and rental by increasing interest rate and tax incentives, creating conditions for access to clean land funds to attract more businesses to invest in this segment.
