MINH QUÂN |

Ho Chi Minh City will reclaim land from more than 6,100 households to serve 4 projects: Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway, Ring Road 2, Xuyen Tam Canal renovation and Doi Canal North bank renovation.

The Xuyen Tam Canal renovation project has just had its capital adjusted from VND9,600 billion to over VND17,200 billion. The capital increase is mainly for site clearance, with compensation costs increasing from nearly VND6,600 billion to nearly VND14,000 billion according to the 2024 Land Law.

This project will affect 2,260 households, of which 2,122 are in Binh Thanh district and 138 are in Go Vap district. In Binh Thanh, 1,273 households will have to be completely relocated, while Go Vap has 40 households.

To ensure housing for these households, Binh Thanh has prepared about 300 resettlement houses (including 258 apartments and 42 plots of land) and will build an additional social housing area with 850 apartments at 4 Phan Chu Trinh (Ward 12, Binh Thanh District).

Meanwhile, households in Go Vap will be resettled at Gia Khang apartment building (Ward 14).

The Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway Project, with a total length of nearly 51km, will connect Ho Chi Minh City with Tay Ninh Province. The expressway route passing through Ho Chi Minh City is more than 24km long and is expected to reclaim 182.25 hectares of land, affecting 1,808 households in Cu Chi District.

To serve the project, Ho Chi Minh City has estimated the total cost of compensation and resettlement support up to 7,102 billion VND.

Among the affected households, about 254 eligible households are expected to be allocated resettlement land in two resettlement areas in Pham Van Coi commune (16.71 ha) and Tan Thanh Tay commune (26.5 ha).

The Beltway 2 project through Thu Duc City has a total length of 6km and a total investment of up to 13,871 billion VND. This project is divided into two main sections: the section from Phu Huu Bridge to Vo Nguyen Giap Street is 3.5km long and the section from Vo Nguyen Giap to Pham Van Dong Street is 2.8km long.

The Belt Road 2 project affects 1,164 households and organizations, with a total land area to be recovered of 61.15 hectares.

Thu Duc City's Compensation and Site Clearance Board has begun handing over field boundaries to relevant wards to prepare for the compensation process.

This project will arrange 574 land plots and 86 apartments for phase 1, while phase 2 will have 90 land plots and 12 resettlement apartments.

Thu Duc City is considering using public land around the project area to build more resettlement areas to meet people's wishes.

The project to renovate the North bank of the Doi Canal in District 8 has also had its capital increased from over VND4,900 billion to over VND7,400 billion. The additional capital is mainly for compensation and site clearance, as compensation costs have increased from about VND3,500 billion to over VND6,000 billion according to the new land price.

This project will reclaim more than 5.85 hectares of land in Wards 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 14, with approximately 1,633 households affected, of which 1,023 households will have to be completely relocated.

To solve the resettlement problem, District 8 People's Committee has proposed that Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee allow the purchase of 315 apartments at Hung Phat social housing area and 242 apartments at Resco apartment building to resettle households.
