On the evening of December 17, the Thai team had an emotional comeback with a score of 4-2 against Singapore, thereby winning the first place in Group A, ASEAN Cup 2024.
Thus, the War Elephants have secured a ticket to the semi-finals as the top team of Group A. They have one more match in the group stage against Cambodia on December 20, before competing in the semi-finals on December 27 and 30, 2024.
Coach Masatada Ishii and his team's opponent in the next round will be the second team in Group B.
As for Singapore, they will face Malaysia in a decisive match in the final round on December 20. A win will almost certainly send either Singapore or Malaysia into the semi-finals.
Cambodia still has a chance to continue but no longer has the right to decide. They are forced to win big against Thailand in the final match, while waiting for Malaysia not to lose to Singapore.
However, considering the not-so-great goal difference, it is impossible for Cambodia to squeeze through the narrow gap in Group A. Moreover, the task of defeating Thailand is not easy either.
