In the context of many financial difficulties, Barcelona is forced to sell players if they want to recruit new players in the summer market of 2024.
Marcos Alonso has left as a free agent and could be the case of captain Sergi Roberto in the near future. The versatile Spaniard's contract with Barca expired in June this year.
Sergi Roberto has been pushed by Barcelona to extend his contract but there are no guarantees of a successful registration with La Liga. Therefore, the 32-year-old player is having to consider offers from Girona, Porto, Ajax, Fiorentina and some clubs in the Premier League.
Spanish media said midfielder Oriol Romeu is also likely to leave, just a year after joining Barca from Girona for 3.5 million Euros. That was also the only fee the Blaugrana spent last summer.
Meanwhile, Sergino dest has joined PSV Eindhoven, while Chadi Riad has joined Crystal Palace. Last season's loan players Eric Garcia, Ansu Fati, Pablo Torre and Clement Lenglet were also encouraged to find new clubs.
The only exception could be Fati. New coach Hansi Flick highly appreciated the striker's efforts during the training process and the door to stay at Barcelona is still open. However, an injury prevented the Brighton player from playing with Barca in the US last season. With his injury history, there are doubts about the 21-year-old striker.
With Barca promoting the recruitment of Nico Williams, Joao Felix is likely to officially return to Atletico Madrid. Of course, the Blaugrana will not be able to recover any money from this move because Felix is just a loan deal. Meanwhile, they are willing to consider offers for most of the squad.
Young stars such as Pau Cubarsi, Gavi and Lamine Yamal are the few players at Barca with guaranteed futures. Meanwhile, Vitor Roque, who joined the club in January, is causing internal division over his future. The Brazilian striker may have to leave on loan to gain more experience, but it is also possible that Blaugrana will sell out.
It is also reported that Barca will be looking to earn money from centre-back Ronald Araujo, despite the Uruguayan player being injured after Copa America 2024. The centre-back will be out for about four months after undergoing hamstring surgery.
Araujo's contract will expire in 2026, so so sooner or later, Barca needs to clearly determine the future of this central defender.
Inigo Martinez, Andreas Christensen, Jules Kounde, Frenkie de Jong, Raphinha and Ferran Torres are among the other Barca players who could be out. Of course, none of them want to leave the club.
