Eliminated from ASEAN Cup, Cambodia team receives modest bonus

Cambodia team received modest bonus after stopping in the group stage of ASEAN Cup 2024.

Thmey Thmey newspaper reported that on December 22, the leaders of the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC) had a meeting with the coaching staff and players of the national team.

Mr. Sao Sokha - Chairman of FFC encouraged and called on the head coach and all players to continue their efforts because the team still has a long way ahead.

In addition to moral encouragement, each Cambodian player will receive a bonus of about 1,000 USD (equivalent to 25 million VND).

The money comes from ticket sales for Cambodia's two home matches. FFC divides the profit into four equal parts, after deducting other expenses.

Accordingly, this revenue will be used for four tasks including bonus for the team; improving the quality of medical care for the team; providing financial support for clubs with Cambodian players participating in the ASEAN Cup; and creating a reinvestment budget for youth football.

Cambodia stopped at the group stage of the ASEAN Cup 2024 with 4 points and ranked 4th on the rankings. They drew 2-2 with Malaysia, won 2-1 with Timor Leste and lost 2-3 to Thailand and 1-2 to Singapore.

The defeat against Singapore was a big disappointment for the team from the land of pagodas when their goalkeeper made a direct mistake and "gave" the opponent 2 goals, even though Cambodia played more dominantly and had a better playing style than Singapore.

After the match, FFC leaders announced an investigation into goalkeeper Vireak Dara for these negative manifestations.
