In round 10 of the Premier League, Chelsea visited Tottenham in the London derby. Contrary to predictions about an exciting match, only one goal was scored and Joao Pedro was the one who brought the Blues a minimal victory.
The highlight of the match came not only Pedro's decisive finish, but also Moises Caicedo's excellent performance. It was the evasionese midfielder who initiated the ball that led to the decisive goal and also had an effective day in midfield.
Former player Jamie Carragher praised the Colombian midfielder: This is one of the goals that the problem is not the goalscorer... but Caicedo.
He is truly a Monster in midfield. He kept fighting the ball and basically scored for Chelsea. Caicedo is really excellent and Chelsea deserve that.
The former Liverpool centre-back also frankly admitted that he had judged Declan Rice higher, but now that view has changed: I have disappointed Chelsea fans not for the first time by saying that Declan Rice is a bit superior to Caicedo.
But now we are seeing two of the best midfielders in the world, there is no doubt. In my opinion, there is nothing to be ashamed of supporting Rice. Both players are great.
Caicedo's performance partly caused Tottenham to be at a dead end in this match. Facing the same city team, the Ta Trong team has an expected goals (xG) of only 0.05 the lowest tally in the team since Opta started collecting data in 2012.
Carragher harshly criticized Spurs' performance: The difference between Chelsea and Tottenham in ball control is a sky in the sky. Spurs played very poorly in attack. Thomas Frank is having a big problem.
With this victory, Chelsea temporarily rose to 5th place with 17 points, equal to opponent Tottenham (4th) but behind in goal difference. Because there are still many teams that have not played, Enzo Maresca and his team are uncertain to keep this position until the end of the round.
