Early morning of December 16 (Vietnam time), Chelsea will host Brentford in the round of 16 of the 2024-2025 Premier League.
Right from the first minutes, the home team created dangerous opportunities. In the 11th minute, Nicolas Jackson had a shot in the penalty area, but Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken made an excellent save. In the 29th minute, Brentford's Mikkel Damsgaard also could not score when his shot was blocked by Chelsea's defense.
It wasn't until the 43rd minute that Chelsea opened the scoring. Noni Madueke made a beautiful run, before accurately crossing the ball to Marc Cucurella, and the defender headed home to put Chelsea ahead before the first half ended.
In the second half, Chelsea continued to maintain strong pressure and scored a second goal. In the 80th minute, Nicolas Jackson shone with a delicate dribble and shot to raise the score to 2-0 for the home team. Although Brentford tried hard to find an equalizer and got a goal to reduce the score in the 90th minute thanks to Bryan Mbeumo, in the end, Chelsea still won 2-1.
The three points helped Chelsea reduce the gap with the leading team Liverpool to 2 points, while Brentford continued to stand in 11th place with 23 points.
