On the evening of December 26, Chelsea hosted Fulham at home in round 18 of the Premier League.
The Blues had more possession in the early part of the first half, but Fulham were the team that created more threats. Antonee Robinson was involved in almost every attack, trying to find space in Chelsea's defense.
In the 15th minute, Cole Palmer dribbled the ball skillfully, passing Fulham defenders and firing a low shot to open the score for the home team at Stamford Bridge. In the following minutes, Chelsea regained the initiative and put pressure.
At the beginning of the second half, Levi Colwill headed the ball into Fulham's net, but unfortunately he was offside. The visitors mainly responded with crosses, but it was enough to distract the Blues' defense.
In the 82nd minute, Wilson moved intelligently and headed the ball to score from a pass from Timothy Castagne. That was Fulham's first goal at Stamford Bridge since 2011. It was thought that the two teams would share the points with a draw, but in the 5th minute of extra time, Rodrigo Muniz's shot was diagonally sacked goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
In the end, Fulham won spectacularly with a score of 2-1. This was their first win at Stamford Bridge in 45 years, taking them up to 8th in the table, just 1 point behind Newcastle in 5th place.
For their part, Enzo Maresca and his team missed the opportunity to narrow the gap with the top team Liverpool. They are still 4 points behind The Reds, and are at risk of losing the top 2 after round 18.
