Overview
Wolves have had a really bad start to the season. Robards' team has yet to taste victory after the first 14 rounds (2 draws, 12 losses). With just two points, Wolves are recreating Sheffield United's disastrous 2020-2021 relegation season - and are at risk of becoming the team with the worst start in Premier League history.
The two minimalist 0-1 defeats to Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa in the last two rounds further contributed to the team's spirit collapse. Wolves entered a difficult period with the feeling of having to conquer a "mountains" too high.
At home, the situation did not improve. They have lost all 7 of their most recent matches in the Premier League - the longest losing streak in the club's tournament history.
More worryingly, Wolves have been completely "failed to score" recently. They have failed to score in five consecutive Premier League games. In the history of the competition, Wolves have only lost 8 consecutive matches at one time (from December81 to February 1982), and have never gone through such a long streak without scoring a goal.
However, if Wolves need to find some optimistic support, it is from the confrontations with Manchester United last season. They surprisingly defeated the "Red Devils" in both matches - 2-0 at Molineux and 1-0 at Old Trafford.
This season, while Man United's squad has fluctuated strongly in the previous campaign, everything has become somewhat more stable under Ruben Amorim. However, the excitement after the victory over Crystal Palace was stopped by a disappointing 1-1 draw against West Ham.
Amorim certainly wants a more convincing performance against Wolves, especially as the chance to enter the top 4 remains open depending on other results. M.U's away form also brings confidence.
They are unbeaten in their last four away games in the Premier League (W2 D2), after a run of eight without a win. The last time Man United had an unbeaten streak away from home in 7 matches was from November to February of the 2021-2022 season.
The upcoming match will also mark the first time Matheus Cunha has returned to his former home of Molineux since moving to Manchester in the summer of 2025. Thanks to his explosive time playing at Wolves, Cunha has an impressive record at the club: 11 goals in the last 12 Premier League games (6 goals, 5 assists).
Man United also have other attacking players in high form. Captain Bruno Fernandes has provided assists in each of his last four Premier League away games (a total of five). If he continues to do this against Wolves, he will become the fifth player in the league's history to assist in five consecutive away games, behind Muzzy Izzet (2003), Cesc Fabregas (2014-201 2015, Gerard Deulofeu 2015 and Mohamed Salah (2023).
Head-to-head record
Wolves completed a double against Man United last season, winning both at home and away - the same number of wins as they have in 14 previous encounters with the "Red Devils" (2 wins, 3 draws, 3 losses 9).
In a similar confrontation last season, Man United also suffered a 0-2 defeat, in which Cunha played a key role. The Brazilian striker opened the scoring with an excellent move right after a corner kick, before assisting Hwang Hee-chan to seal the victory in the 9th minute of extra time.
However, Man United have reason to be confident ahead of this trip, having not let Wolves lose two consecutive away games at Molineux since August 1980 .
Score prediction: Wolves 0-1 Man United
The match between Wolves and Man United takes place at 3:00 am on December 9 (Vietnam time).
