Overview
Tottenham and home comfort are clearly not in parallel in 2025, at least in the Premier League.
Last weekend's 2-0 win over Brentford - thanks to first-half goals from Richarlison and Xavi Simons - was only Spurs' fourth win in 17 home games in the competition this year (D3), in addition to 10 defeats. That number marks the club's most home defeats in a calendar year, equal to the unforgettable milestones in 1994 and 2003.
However, everything took on a completely different color when Tottenham moved to Europe. Thomas Frank's team has won both of their home matches in the Champions League this season, scoring 5 goals and conceding none against Villarreal (1-0) and Copenhagen (4-0).
That result extended Spurs' unbeaten run in European competition to 22 (18, 4 draws). They are also aiming to keep a clean sheet in 4 consecutive home matches in the C1 Cup/Champions League for the first time in history.
These statistics give Spurs great confidence, the team unbeaten in all four previous encounters with Slavia Prague (won 3, drew 1). They also avoided defeat in the last 7 matches against the Czech Republic representatives since 1962.
Despite having just experienced a painful experience chasing 8 goals against Paris Saint-Germain - their first defeat in the group stage this year - Tottenham still have a chance to break away to the top 8 teams. They are only two points behind that position despite being in 16th place.
Waiting for Tottenham is an opponent who has not yet known the taste of victory in the European arena this season. However, Slavia Prague is on the rise in the domestic league, with a series of 5 consecutive wins helping them create a five-point gap in the top of the table.
The 0-3 home loss to Arsenal was Slavia's only defeat in their last 12 matches in all competitions. However, Jindrich Trpisovsky's side have yet to convert their impressive form to the Champions League, having just finished 31st in the table and picked up three points from five games.
After a goalless draw with Athletic Bilbao in the fifth match, Slavia have gone 16 consecutive matches without a win in the Champions League (7 draws, 9 losses), since beating FCSB 2-1 in September 2007.
Head-to-head record
Tottenham are unbeaten in their previous four meetings with Slavia Prague in European competitions (3 wins, 1 draw), all of which were part of the UEFA Cup in the 2006-08 period.
Spurs have also avoided defeat in the last 7 matches against Czech Republic sides (W5 D2), since a 0-1 loss to Dukla Prague in the first leg of the C1 Cup quarter-finals in February 6.
On the other hand, Slavia have won just two of their 16 European games against the English side (D4 L10). Notably, both victories came in the UEFA Cup/Europa League, against Leeds United in 2000 and Leicester City in 2021.
Score prediction: Tottenham 2-0 Slavia Prague
The match between Tottenham - Slavia takes place at 3:00 am on December 10 (Vietnam time).
