Manchester United may be ready to sell Marcus Rashford as Sir Jim Ratcliffe is trying to solve a big problem.
The Red Devils academy graduate is in the midst of an unstable campaign. The English striker has only scored 7 goals in 23 appearances in all competitions. That poor form comes after a season in which Rashford scored just eight goals.
The 27-year-old still has 3 and a half years left on his contract at Old Trafford. He currently earns around £325,000 a week at Man United. And that is one of the main reasons why the "Red Devils" want to sell Rashford. According to British media, Man United are likely to sell Rashford in January, while they could also make an offer next summer.
If Man United can reduce Rashford's sky-high wages, this will help them manage better in the transfer market. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has attached special importance to complying with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules since becoming a minority owner of Man United.
Paris St Germain have been linked with a move to Rashford in the past, while moving to Saudi Arabia could be another option, according to The Telegraph. Man United head coach Ruben Amorim has recently given his views on Rashford, stating that the striker must be the driving force for the whole team.
"We will try to find the right solution for Rashford but first of all, he has to be himself, to try to get back to his best form. Then he will have all the help from the staff, the club and the fans because he is a Manchester United guy. But he has to be the first one to want that," Amorim said.
Amorim also admitted that he is still trying to figure out the best position for Rashford in his system. After the draw with Ipswich, the Portuguese added: "The position in this match was not the best for him. Especially in a game like this, he had to fight with two tall centre-backs. And we will try to find the right solution for him."
The 27-year-old striker has made 425 appearances for Man United since his debut in the 2015-16 season. He has scored 138 goals and provided 67 assists since then.
Rashford has had a small comeback under Amorim with three goals in four Premier League appearances. The striker will aim to extend that form next week.
The "Red Devils" will visit Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League. Then there was a Manchester derby that was predicted to be difficult for Man United at the Etihad.
