British star Phil Foden left the "Three Lions" headquarters at EURO 2024 and returned home due to "urgent family problems".
"Phil Foden has temporarily left the England training camp and returned to the UK due to an urgent family problem," the FA said in a statement.
According to British media, Foden returned home to welcome the birth of his third child. The Man City striker has previously had two children with his partner Rebecca Cooke, including a boy and a girl.
Ronnie, Foden's son, who is famous for his millions of followers on Instagram, revealed in April that the Foden family is expecting a third child. The family sighed while reading "Baby Foden" along with a photo shared on Ronnie's Instagram account.
Foden is famous not only for his football talent, but also because he became a father at a very young age (18 years old). In recent years, Foden and Rebecca Cooke's relationship has also gone through many ups and downs, but the two are still together until now.
Foden still participated in the group stage break against Slovenia with England. After the match, the striker was said to have left the training camp and immediately flew back to England.
The best player in the Premier League in the 2023-2024 season has started all 3 of England's EURO 2024 group stage matches. He played the full 90 minutes against Serbia, before being substituted in draws against Denmark and Slovenia.
Foden has developed into an important player for the "Three Lions", having only missed one match since March 2023. After finishing the season later than his teammates, Foden was allowed to concentrate later and was absent from the friendly match against Bosnia & Herzegovina.
The 24-year-old striker was an important link in the Citizens' journey to defend the Premier League title last season. Meanwhile, Foden also has 4 goals in 37 appearances for England, including a goal against Wales in the 2022 World Cup group stage.
While Foden has yet to score at EURO 2024, he contributed to the unrecognized goal in the match between the "Three Lions" and Slovenia. Foden broke into the back of the opposition defence before passing the ball to Bukayo Saka, but that combination offside him.
Foden is expected to return to Germany before June 30, when the "Three Lions" meet Slovakia in the round of 16 of EURO 2024.
