The reigning world champions will have two matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in South America with Venezuela and Bolivia.

Messi was not in the Argentina squad for the two matches against Chile and Colombia in September due to an injury suffered in the 2024 Copa America final, where he and his teammates beat Colombia 1-0 to win the South American championship for the 16th time.
Argentina beat Chile 3-0 and lost to Colombia 1-2 in the last two matches in the qualifying round.
Currently, La Albiceleste is still at the top of the rankings with 18 points after 8 matches, Colombia and Uruguay are behind with 16 points.
