Manchester United will be without eight players for the home game against Ipswich Town. Coach Ruben Amorim is still facing a growing injury crisis at Old Trafford.
Man United are eager to regain their winning feeling after 3 consecutive Premier League games with only draws and losses. However, they will have to complete this goal with a patchwork formation.
Amorim confirmed at a press conference before the match against Ipswich that he would not call up any injured players to the squad. That means Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount, Jonny Evans and Toby Collyer - who are still fit to compete - will be absent. Meanwhile, Lisandro Martinez and Amad Diallo will be out for the whole season.
There are also concerns about Noussair Mazraoui, who suffered a knee injury against Everton. And Amorim could continue to fill his bench with academy players.
In his last two games against Everton and Tottenham, Amorim has provided Ayden Heaven, Harry Amass, Sekou Kone, Chido Obi-Martin and Elyh Harrison on the bench.
Speaking before the match against Ipswich, Amorim said: "Amad has been out for a long time. I think Mason Mount is still recovering, and so is Luke Shaw.
Toby Collyer looks set to return, but not right now. Kobbie Mainoo is recovering. We have to adapt to use the players we have for the schedule."
Amorim will be a bit optimistic about the match against Ipswich after seeing his players make efforts to regain 1 point against Everton. Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte were the players who scored to help the "Red Devils" escape the humiliating defeat.
When asked what he had told the players to save the situation, Amorim shared: "I just said that we would play the same way, because this week I saw something different. We will do the same, regardless of the outcome. That is to create more trust and then quality in the smallest things.
Everyone knows it because of what we did against Everton. We worked hard this week and we proved that in the second half. I don't change anything, I still play the old way with better energy and fighting."
The match between Man United and Ipswich Town takes place at 2:30 am on February 27 (Vietnam time).
