Man United has just announced that the new cut will affect about 150-200 club staff. CEO Omar Berrada said in a statement:
"We have a responsibility to bring Manchester United back to their strongest position to win in both the men's, women's and academy teams. We are initiating a series of large-scale measures to transform and innovate the club."
"Unfortunately, this means further notice about the possibility of dismissal and we are deeply regretful about this impact on affected employees. However, these difficult options are necessary to bring the club back to a stable financial state".
United had previously announced their first job cuts of last season, with around 250 staff leaving in the summer. ESPN said employees will receive a cut decision around April to June.
This move comes after Man United announced a loss of more than £300 million ($379 million) in the past three years. Last week, the latest financial results showed the team's revenue fell to £198.7 million in the final three months of 2024. This figure is lower than the £225.8 million in the same period last year.
In an earlier week's staff meeting, staff were also informed that their lunch at Old Trafford would be cut. This decision could save the club more than £1 million a year.
