Overview
Lazio had shown impressive form when they won 7/8 rounds in Serie A this season. However, after that period of sublime performance, they gradually lost steam and continuously received bad results.
In the last 6 rounds, Lazio won 2, drew 1 and lost 3. This is a huge step back compared to themselves in the previous period.
Two-thirds of Lazio's recent defeats have come away from home. This has once again exacerbated the problems of coach Marco Baroni's team when playing away from home.
In contrast, Lazio's home form is quite good. They have lost only 1, drawn 2 and won 6. Except for Inter Milan, no team has beaten Lazio when they play at the Stadio Olimpico.
With the home field and only having to welcome Como, who are in the bottom group, Lazio will have the opportunity to regain the feeling of victory. However, the team of coach Cesc Fabregas is in quite good form when winning 2, drawing 2 and losing 1 in the last 5 rounds. The only team to beat them during that time is the defending champion Inter Milan.
However, most of Como's positive results have come at home. Fabregas's side have been poor away from home, winning one, drawing three and losing six this season. Como are on a six-game winless streak away from home, including four defeats.
Therefore, against a Lazio team in good form at home, Como will find it difficult to create a surprise. Lazio's 5-1 victory over Como in the first leg further strengthens the belief that Baroni's team will win all 3 points in the upcoming match.
Human resources situation
Lazio's Taty Castellanos is absent after being sent off against Roma. Mario Gila and captain Mattia Zaccagni have also been handed one-match suspensions for accumulating five yellow cards.
Meanwhile, Patric and Matias Vecino are sidelined through injury, while striker pair Tijjani Noslin and Pedro are both fit enough to at least make the bench.
On the other side of the front line, the visitors will be without the services of Maximo Perrone and Sergi Roberto due to injury, while experienced centre-back Edoardo Goldaniga is suspended. New signing Jean Butez and Assane Diao are also expected to be unavailable.
Expected lineup:
Lazio: Provedel, Lazzari, Romagnoli, Gigot, Tavares, Rovella, Guendouzi, Tchaouna, Dele-Bashiru, Isaksen, Dia.
Como: Reina, Van der Brempt, Dossena, Kempf, Moreno, Da Cunha, Engelhardt, Strefezza, Paz, Fadera, Cutrone.
The match between Lazio and Como takes place at 2:45 a.m. on January 11 (Vietnam time).
