The trip to Ipswich Town will be the debut of new manager Ruen Amorim. He will be looking to continue the impressive performance of Ruud van Nistelrooy, when the interim coach led Man United to a four-game unbeaten run.
Amorim, 39, is United's youngest manager since Wilf McGuinness (31 in 1969), but he has plenty of title-winning experience with Sporting Lisbon, having led Sporting to a 4-1 win over Manchester City in the Champions League earlier this month.
That result has helped him win the hearts of many Red Devils fans. Amorim will have a difficult task to revive the team, when they are only ranked 13th in the Premier League rankings.
Amorim's first opponent at Old Trafford is also interesting. Ipswich head coach Kieran McKenna was a scout and youth team manager at Man United. He was assistant to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Jose Mourinho, Michael Carrick and Ralf Rangnick before leaving.
With Ten Hag's future uncertain in the summer, McKenna was one of the names being considered. He has struggled at Ipswich and only picked up his first Premier League win two weeks ago (2-1 win over Tottenham).
The win also lifted them out of the relegation zone and into a relatively safe 17th place. However, McKenna's men remain the only Premier League side without a home win in the 2024-2025 season. Hosting a re-energised Man United will be a big test for the Portman Road side.
