Enzo Maresca will return to the King Power Stadium to face his former club for the first time on 23 November, when Chelsea travel to Leicester City.
The Italian coach guided Leicester back to the Premier League, before leaving the Championship champions for Chelsea this summer.
The London club are winless in their last two games after back-to-back 1-1 draws with Manchester United and Arsenal, but remain third in the table. Pedro Neto scored to earn Chelsea a point last time out, after Gabriel Martinelli had given Arsenal the lead.
Cole Palmer has been quiet in his last two games for Chelsea. However, the midfielder has been directly involved in 10 goals in just five Premier League appearances against promoted sides for Chelsea (6 goals, 4 assists).
Palmer is keen to make his mark against Leicester City, particularly with the help of striker Noni Madueke. The pair have created more chances for each other than any other pairing in the Premier League this season (17).
However, Leicester do have one midfielder who stands out: Wilfred Ndidi. He has had more touches in the opposition box (33) and more assists (4) in the Premier League than any other Leicester player in 2024-25. However, Ndidi's four assists have come from just nine chances created, suggesting that this is down to the excellent finishing of his teammates.
Steve Cooper's side will have to work hard as Leicester are winless in their last 13 Premier League games against teams who started the day in the top four of the table (D3 L10). They have conceded 35 goals in those 13 games, with their last win coming 1-0 against Liverpool in December 2021.
Chelsea are a very good team on the road. They have won 10 of their 19 points away from home, a rate of 53%. They are one of only four teams to have won more than 50% of their points away from home.
Chelsea will be keeping an eye on the fitness of Jadon Sancho and Romeo Lavia, but Reece James will be absent after Maresca confirmed that the Chelsea captain has a hamstring problem.
Leicester, meanwhile, will be without key winger Abdul Fatawu – who is likely to miss the rest of the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury; Jordan Ayew and Ricardo Pereira are also doubtful. Jamie Vardy, Patson Daka, Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Jakub Stolarczyk are all set to undergo fitness tests.
Chelsea have lost just one of their last seven Premier League away games against Leicester (W4 D2). Chelsea have won both of their last two away games at the King Power Stadium, with an aggregate score of 6-1.
Leicester had a 6-match unbeaten streak against Chelsea in the Premier League from 2018 to 2021 (won 2, drew 4). But this period, Chelsea is rated much higher.
The Blues also won 4-2 in the FA Cup against Leicester last season, with goals from Marc Cucurella, Palmer, Carney Chukwuemeka and Madueke at Stamford Bridge.
Leicester City vs Chelsea match will take place at 19:30 on November 23.
