The shortlist for the 2024 Vietnam Golden Ball includes Nguyen Tien Linh, Nguyen Hoang Duc, Pham Tuan Hai, Nguyen Quang Hai and Nguyen Thanh Chung.
These are all names that have made a great contribution to the journey to the 2024 ASEAN Cup championship of the Vietnamese team. Commentator Quang Tung admitted that these were reasonable choices, but regretfully in the case of Nguyen Van Quyet.
Talking to Lao Dong, commentator Quang Tung said: "Personally, I feel sorry for Van Quyet. In 2024, there will be an ASEAN Cup, so those who are not promoted will face a disadvantage in the competition.
In the V.League last season and this season, Van Quyet is the soul of Hanoi club. His influence on the club and a little contribution to the national team give us the feeling of him being a quality player, along with his persistent efforts to play football, to show himself".
Van Quyet retired from the Vietnam national team after a friendly match with the Indian team in October 2024, right before the ASEAN Cup. Commentator Quang Tung said that this was a disadvantage for Van Quyet, so it was difficult for him to make it into the top 5 to avoid the Golden Ball.
"Top 5 are all reasonable choices, but if I was chosen, I would choose Van Quyet in the final race, because the influence in the national championship is also an important part of Vietnamese football life. A person like Van Quyet deserves to be recognized".
Regarding the 2024 Ballon d'Or award, commentator Quang Tung said that Tien Linh had a worthy victory. He is one of the nominated attacking players. Attacking players always have an advantage in this race, compared to those playing in defense like Thanh Chung.
"I recognize Tien Linh. He is not only an influential domestic striker in the V.League, but when he was called up to the national team, although Tien Linh was no longer a priority due to the appearance of Xuan Son, he still did a good job of his responsibility when coming off the bench.
He still has 4 goals and assists. Therefore, in all aspects, Tien Linh had a worthy victory in the 2024 Golden Ball race", commentator Quang Tung shared.
"Tien Linh has had a process of striving, from the Bronze Ball, the Silver Ball and now has reached its peak.
