On the morning of June 6, the Launching Ceremony of the Vietnam Women's Football Development Strategy ( UEFA/AFC-funded Women's Football Development Project 2024-2027) took place in Hanoi.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan - President of the Vietnam Football Federation said: "Today I am honored to be present at this important event, starting a strategy for the development of Vietnamese women's football.
Since the integration in 1997, Vietnamese women's football has achieved many achievements. The national women's football championship is expanded, youth teams are invested, and have more training opportunities abroad, thereby developing stable resources
The national women's team 3 times of Southeast Asia, 8 times the SEA Games champion, reached the quarterfinals of Asiad and first made history when participating in the World Cup. At the club level, the Ho Chi Minh City women's team reached the semi -finals of the AFC Champions League, affirming the position of Vietnamese football.
However, to maintain motivation and professionalism, we need an in-depth, consistent strategy with the cooperation of UEFA and FIFA, towards building a comprehensive ecosystem. The Vietnam Football Federation is committed to closely coordinating with partners to make the strategy from the plan come true".

Accordingly, the goals of the Vietnam Women's Football Development Strategy include:
- Development. Comprehensively and professionally transform women's football from the domestic tournament system, clubs to the national team level, raising the level of tournaments.
- Inspiring generations of female players, thereby increasing the power of Vietnamese women's football in the international arena.
- Focus on training and developing female coaches and referees.
- Orientation to build brand value, attract sponsorship for the national women's football championship and increase media coverage to spread the image of the women's team.
- Expand school football for female students to increase the participation of women in sports activities, especially football.
In addition, some key goals of women's football include being in the top 5 teams in Asia; reaching the finals of the 2026 and 2029 Asian Cups; reaching the finals of the 2031 World Cup.
At the club level, strive to have 3 clubs meeting the criteria to participate in the AFC Champions League 2028; 1 club reaching the semi-finals of the AFC Champions League 2030; increase the number of teams participating in the national championship from 8 to 10 teams by 2027...
In other aspects, VFF will also strive to equip and support female coaches and female referees to reach the peak of their careers; increase women's football participation and create an equal playground for female students participating in football at school; enhance brand positioning for the national women's team and the national women's championship; build value and effectively commercialize the Vietnam national women's championship...

At the ceremony, a FIFA representative said: "One of FIFA's top priorities is to ensure that each member federation has a strategy for the development of women's football. VFF has great potential and clearly defines a vision.
We believe that this strategy will help women's football develop more, opening up many new opportunities for girls and women, both on the field and in society, while giving strength to future generations".
