During this training session, central defender Bui Tien Dung shared some noteworthy things with the media.
"In recent days, the whole team has had quality training sessions to recover for all players competing in the V.League. The team also has physical exercises and tactics to aim for the match against Cambodia.
I think the match against Cambodia is just a friendship, there are players called up for the first time, players who have not played for a long time.
I think this is a useful match for the whole team towards the official match against Laos. The players must strive to perform well, practice well, enter the stadium to try to fulfill their role and follow the instructions set by the coaching staff", Bui Tien Dung shared.
To prepare for the match against Vietnam, the Cambodian team has called up 5 naturalized players including: striker Nieto Rondon from Colombia, defenders Takaki Ose and Yudai Ogawa from Japan, striker Coulibaly Abdel Kader from the Ivory Coast and defender Kanh Mo from South Africa. These players have all competed in the 2024 ASEAN Cup.
However, central defender Bui Tien Dung does not highly appreciate these players. He said: "Cambodian naturalized players performed well in the recent ASEAN Cup.
The team had video views to analyze the Cambodian players. To compare foreign players competing in V.League and Cambodia, foreign players in V.League are certainly of higher level.
Players like me have to be more careful because I have not played much with foreign players from Cambodia".
In this training session, the central defender position of the Vietnam national team suffered a loss when Bui Hoang Viet Anh suffered a recurrent knee injury and had to return to the club for treatment.
With opponents who are not highly rated like Cambodia or Laos, experts predict that young center back Pham Ly Duc will be given a chance by coach Kim Sang-sik.
When asked about this issue, Bui Tien Dung said: "The match has not yet taken place, the coaching staff will have calculations and how to use people. As I said, players who are called up for the first time and rarely play will certainly be given the opportunity."
Regarding the playing opportunities of the two young goalkeepers Trung Kien and Van Viet, central defender Bui Tien Dung commented: "Both remaining goalkeepers performed well in the youth team and club jersey. They have good expertise. Whether you play first or later is not important, the important thing is the result of the whole team".
