The two players Nguyen Xuan Son and Ho Tan Tai are in the process of recovering under the guidance of doctors. Both players had to undergo surgery for the injury they suffered while playing for the Vietnam national team at the 2024 ASEAN Cup.
For Xuan Son, the striker born in 1997 suffered a serious injury in the second leg of the final against Thailand on January 5, 2025, leading to a broken collarbone and tibia. The striker of Nam Dinh team was immediately taken to the emergency room and then transferred to Vietnam for surgery.
Currently, Xuan Son is practicing recovery at Vinmec Sports Medicine Center (Hanoi) with the determination to return to the field soon. The multi-disciplinary coordination at the above hospital is an important factor helping Xuan Son return to his peak form.
Each stage of his recovery will be closely monitored by the team of sports medicine doctors here, from nutritional control, weight to specialized recovery exercises at each stage.
Meanwhile, Ho Tan Tai was injured in the second leg of the semi-final against Singapore on December 29, 2024 at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho). Initial diagnostics show that Tan Tai has a premature cruciate ligament and does not need surgery, and is expected to be out of action for 6 to 8 weeks.
However, after re-examination, the injury was determined to be more serious, forcing him to undergo surgery and was expected to be out of action for 8 to 9 months. Currently, Tan Taig is being treated and rehabilitated at the RTD Rehab Trauma Rehabilitation Center (HCMC) under the direct guidance of physiotherapist/bacharist in biomedical engineering Tran Huy Tho.
The defender was able to move and recover on his own without the help of a fractured leg. However, to be able to practice with the ball, Tan Tai also needs about 5 to 6 more months.
All treatment costs for Nguyen Xuan Son and Ho Tan Tai are paid by the Vietnam Football Federation, on the basis of agreeing with the clubs in charge of these two players, with the highest goal of helping the two players recover from their injuries and return to play top-level football.
