Overseas Vietnamese player Thomas Mai Veeren said goodbye to the U17 Vietnam team.

U17 Vietnam is focusing on preparing for the 2025 U17 Asian Cup finals, taking place in April in Saudi Arabia. In the list of 34 people, overseas Vietnamese and Dutch player Thomas Mai Veeren is one of the notable faces.

After more than 2 weeks of training, Thomas Mai Veeren said goodbye to U17 Vietnam.

Thomas Mai Veeren's Vietnamese name is Mai Cong Thanh, born in 2008. He has a Dutch father and a Vietnamese mother. Thomas Mai Veeren is playing as a midfielder for HV Quick club in the Dutch 3rd Division, playing in many positions in the midfield, from central midfielder to winger.

Thomas has had the opportunity to train with professional teams such as ADO Den Haag and Feyenoord Rotterdam, and has also been a member of the youth teams of the Dutch Football Confederation (KNVB) from 2018 to 2023.

In addition to Thomas, 3 other players also said goodbye to U17 Vietnam: Ly Xuan Hoa, Tran Hoang Viet, Nguyen Van Phuc.

In the coming time, U17 Vietnam will have a training trip in Oman from March 23 to 29, before moving to Saudi Arabia to participate in the 2025 U17 Asian Cup finals. Coach Cristiano Roland and his team will meet U17 Australia on April 4, U17 Japan on April 7 and U17 UAE on April 10.
