Today (January 6), striker Nguyen Xuan Son will return home with the Vietnamese team after winning the 2024 ASEAN Cup. The striker, who is playing for Nam Dinh, will undergo surgery in Vietnam and be given the best conditions to recover from his injury.
Previously, in the second leg final match between Vietnam and Thailand at Rajamangala Stadium (evening of January 5), Nguyen Xuan Son was injured in the 39th minute.
In that situation, the naturalized striker tried very hard to pass the ball. However, he tripped, lost his balance and was dribbling at high speed, causing Xuan Son to fall down, holding his face in pain. The medical team immediately entered the field to provide first aid and carried the Vietnamese striker off the field on a stretcher.
Outside the pitch, captain Do Duy Manh immediately ran to ask about Xuan Son's condition. Xuan Son's injury was quite serious, causing him a lot of pain. The striker put his arms around Duy Manh's neck when the captain approached. Duy Manh also hugged Xuan Son, trying to encourage his teammate.
At this year's tournament, Duy Manh and Xuan Son became closer. The two often appeared together celebrating victories.
According to the latest information, striker number 12 has a broken leg, both of Xuan Son's tibiae are damaged. After surgery, it is expected that this player will need at least 5-8 months to recover from the injury.
