Dong A Thanh Hoa Club will have the opening match of spring against PSM Makassar of Indonesia at the 2024-2025 Southeast Asian Club Championship (Southeast Asian Cup C1).
After 4 matches in Group A, Thanh Hoa has 6 points and is ranked 4th. The Vietnamese representative must win the upcoming match to be able to pass the group stage.
Attending the pre-match press conference on the afternoon of February 4, Thanh Hoa coach Popov made quite confident statements.
"PSM Makassar is a team with good quality, many good players, especially the Brazilian striker and also the young player with Canadian-Indonesian blood. Overall, they have good players. However, we are not afraid of anything. We will try to play well," he said.
In the past 4 matches, Thanh Hoa team played well but drew too many matches. Tomorrow, maybe we will be lucky and score more goals to get a good result. Surely our team always tries to play well to get a positive result."
Meanwhile, midfielder Nguyen Thai Son said: "For me, both teams need to win this match to advance to the next round. Yesterday (February 3), the whole team traveled here very tiredly but it did not affect the team much. The whole team has prepared well and has a single goal of winning to advance to the semi-finals.
People often tell each other when entering each match that they come here not to represent Thanh Hoa but to represent the whole of Vietnam. Therefore, we always fight with all our might."
