From May 6, the Vietnam women's team will officially gather at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center (Hanoi) to prepare for important international tasks in 2025, including the qualifying round of the 2026 Asian Women's Football Championship, the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Championship, and the 33rd SEA Games.
Under the guidance of coach Mai Duc Chung, the list of 25 athletes from localities has been sent to the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports for a decision on the call-up.
Mr. Mai Duc Chung's assistants are still experienced assistant coaches such as Doan Minh Hai, fitness expert Cedric Sege Christian Roger and two young assistants, former national team players Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh and Dang Kieu Trinh.
Notably, the recently announced list does not include striker Huynh Nhu and members of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club. The Southern team is practicing to prepare for the match against Wuhan Jiangda in the semi-finals of the Asian Cup C1.
Therefore, the HCMC women's members will not join the team in this training session, but will focus on the club. Huynh Nhu, Chuong Thi Kieu... are absent names.
As planned, the players will take a look at the morning of 6.5 and are expected to have the first training session on the same day at the yard of Vietnam Young Football Training Center. Coach Mai Duc Chung and his students have 10 days to prepare for the international friendly match between the Vietnamese women's team and Werder Bremen women's club.
Previously, it was expected that on May 12, the national women's players will have a friendly match with the Ho Chi Minh City women's club when this team is training in Hanoi.
At the end of phase 1 of the first training session in 2025, the Vietnam women's team will leave for Japan for training, from June 8 to June 18.
After this overseas training trip, the Vietnam women's team will travel to Viet Tri (Phu Tho) to continue training and compete in the 2026 Asian Women's Championship qualifiers, with Group E matches taking place here from June 29 to July 5.
