Bonus levels for Vietnamese athletes at the 33rd SEA Games

Vietnamese athletes participating in the 33rd SEA Games will receive many bonuses according to current regulations, along with bonuses from federations and localities.

At the 33rd SEA Games, Vietnamese athletes will receive many different awards depending on the achievements and policies of each unit.

According to Decree 152/2018/ND-CP stipulating the regime for coaches and athletes during training and competition, the reward for achievements at the SEA Games includes: 45 million VND for gold medals, 25 million VND for silver medals and 20 million VND for bronze medals. Athletes who break the SEA Games record will receive an additional 20 million VND.

In addition to the prescribed bonus level, the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports has also announced the hot bonus level at the 33rd SEA Games. Accordingly, the athlete who wins the gold medal will receive a reward of 10 million VND, the silver medal will receive a reward of 5 million VND and the bronze medal will receive a reward of 3 million VND.

In addition, many sports federations and associations have also mobilized social resources to supplement the prize fund.

In particular, the mixed martial arts Federation (MMA) announced a bonus of 100 million VND for the gold medal. The Taekwondo Federation awarded 700 USD, 500 USD and 300 USD respectively for three types of medals. The Athletics Federation announced a bonus of 1 billion VND if the team achieves the target of 12 gold medals.

In addition, some localities have their own treatment mechanisms. According to Resolution 13/2023/NQ-HDND dated December 6, 2023 issued by the Hanoi People's Council, Hanoi athletes who win the SEA Games gold medal will receive 15 million VND/month for the 2-year cycle; the silver medal is 8.5 million VND/month and the bronze medal is 7 million VND/month.

In Ho Chi Minh City, Resolution 05 of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council stipulates a reward of 58 million VND for female athletes and 52 million VND for male athletes who win gold medals. The silver medals are 32 million VND (women's) and 29 million VND (men's); the bronze medals are 25.5 million VND (women's) and 23 million VND (men's). Athletes who win medals will also receive additional support of 7-12.5 million VND/month for 2 years.
