According to coach Kim Sang-sik's sharing with Korean media, he started learning the Vietnamese National Anthem after being appointed.
The "captain" of the Vietnamese team emphasizes the importance of integration when taking on the job.
"I believe that coach Park Hang-seo's success is due to factors other than football. He receives a lot of love from the Vietnamese people and players. Mr. Park respects and understands Vietnamese culture. I want to do that," coach Kim Sang-sik shared.
Previously, in a match of the Vietnamese team in September 2024, coach Kim Sang-sik surprised everyone when he put his hand on his chest and sang the national anthem and sang it very well. "I often sing along when watching YouTube, I actually taught myself," Mr. Kim added.
The Korean coach said he knew the Vietnamese National Anthem by heart; he wanted to get closer to Vietnamese fans by singing the National Anthem. "Although it's not perfect, I think I can sing along with everyone before each match," he said.
Coach Kim Sang-sik and the Vietnamese team are training in Korea to prepare for the AFF Cup (new name ASEAN Cup) 2024 tournament set to take place in December.
Yesterday (November 27), the Vietnamese team won 2-0 in a practice match with Ulsan Citizen club.
