Tien Linh proposes to exchange ASEAN Cup 2024 medal

    Striker Nguyen Tien Linh requested the ASEAN Cup 2024 Organizing Committee to return the medal with the correct words printed on it to the champion.

    After an emotional 3-2 victory over Thailand at Rajamangala Stadium on the evening of January 5, the Vietnamese team won the Southeast Asian championship for the third time.

    However, amidst the joy of the whole team, Tien Linh encountered a rare incident when he received a gold medal with the words “Runners up” (runner-up) instead of “Champion” for the champion like his teammates. This was only discovered when the sharp-eyed online community noticed the difference from the images on social networks.

    After learning that his medal was printed with the wrong words, Tien Linh asked the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to request the ASEAN Cup 2024 Organizing Committee to change the medal.

    At the ASEAN Cup 2024, Tien Linh left a big mark. He scored 4 goals and had 2 assists. In addition, the ASEAN Cup 2024 championship also helped Tien Linh improve his personal achievements, with 2 Southeast Asian championships and 2 SEA Games gold medals.

    With this impressive achievement, Tien Linh is a strong candidate for the 2024 Vietnam Golden Ball award.
