After a 1-2 defeat in the Philippines, on the evening of December 30, the Thai team entered the match at home with the goal of having to win to qualify for the final. They quickly stepped up their attack and after only 37 minutes, Peeradon successfully took advantage of the opportunity at a tight angle to put the ball into the net, bringing an important advantage to the home team.

However, this goal created a wave of controversy, because before Peeradon scored, it seemed that midfielder Seksan Ratree had made a pass when the ball could have crossed the touchline.

The TV angles were not clear enough to determine the exact score, while the VAR referee team did not intervene and recognize the goal as valid. This has created controversy about the accuracy of the referee's decision.
