After ending the 2023-2024 season without achieving its goals, Hanoi FC has quickly entered the preparation phase for the 2024-2025 V.League. However, the Capital team has been transferring or shopping massively.
Except for recruiting "brand new" quality foreign players, Hanoi only brought in young rookies like Ho Thanh Minh (2000), Chu Van Kien (1998) or Nguyen Xuan Kien (2000). They did not make "blockbuster" domestic player transfers like Nam Dinh or Hanoi Police.
In addition, coach Le Duc Tuan's team also promoted many young players to the first team such as Le Van Ha (2004), Nguyen Duy Dung (2002), Ngo Duc Hoang (2002), Nguyen Duc Anh (2003), Bui Long Nhat (2001).
These are good and potential players in the Hanoi U21 team. Therefore, the team's management decided to give them a chance to try their hand at the national championship.
Regarding this, Mr. Do Vinh Quang - Chairman of Hanoi Club shared with Lao Dong: "Last year, Hanoi FC's youth football system won 2 National U17 and U19 championships. These are the 2 generations closest to the first team in the future. In particular, Hanoi FC also prioritizes using foreign coaches for youth football, that is coach Cristiano Roland (U16 Hanoi). This is also the philosophy of Hanoi Club.
With such a training philosophy and methodical way of doing football, Hanoi will continue to implement it in the coming years and expand it to bring about efficiency. Training does not stop at the current model but is also an opportunity to create the highest quality resources for Hanoi youth football to develop further. This is something that not every youth center can do."
However, with the current young generation, it is inevitable to compare the quality of young players with the previous period of Quang Hai, Thanh Chung, Dau Toan, Dinh Trong, Tuan Hai...
"In fact, it is difficult to compare generations of young players at different times. But the current generation of young players in Hanoi has at least 1-2 years of experience playing in the V.League. They are also ready for the new season, when they have the opportunity, they will take the field and show their ability.
For many years, Hanoi FC has always optimized its resources, using players trained from its own youth center, not following the transfer market too much. Hopefully this year, with this way of doing football, Hanoi FC will receive many achievements.
Young players like Nguyen Van Truong or most recently Long Nhat and Van Ha, who have just been promoted to the first team, will strive to show their ability when given the opportunity, and will also compete and replace key positions when adjustments are needed," Chairman Do Vinh Quang emphasized.
Notably, in the Hanoi FC squad, there is the appearance of Vietnamese-American player - Kyle Colonna. The defender born in 1999 just had a good debut in the match against Binh Dinh in round 1 of V.League.
Colonna's appearance also opens up new policies in the use of overseas Vietnamese players of Hanoi FC, and is also a new stepping stone to finding talent for the national team in the future.
Mr. Quang said: "The VFF's regulation is to allow 2 overseas Vietnamese players to participate in the tournament. This is an incentive policy for players of Vietnamese origin to have the opportunity to wear the jersey of V.League teams.
For Hanoi, this is a door to find more resources as well as give opportunities to players who want to return to their homeland to contribute. Hopefully in the coming years, Hanoi FC will continue to look for overseas Vietnamese faces who are capable and meet professional requirements."
Regarding the criteria for selecting overseas Vietnamese players, the chairman of Hanoi FC emphasized: "First, the players must meet the professional requirements of the head coach. Hanoi FC has certain experience and will continue to look for more overseas Vietnamese players.
Hopefully we will have more opportunities to introduce and expand our ability to find players with good abilities and a desire to return to their homeland to contribute."
