Thailand's defense struggled for more than 90 minutes against Nguyen Xuan Son's impressive performance.

After Vietnam's 2-1 victory over Thailand in the first leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final on the evening of January 2, striker Nguyen Xuan Son shared a series of photos of himself playing and celebrating his goal.

Notably, he attached the status line: "Nice to meet you, my name is Nguyen Xuan Son".

This move by the player born in 1997 is said to be a response to Chalermsak's actions on the Thai team.

Previously, this central defender said: "Our form is getting better and better. We are not afraid to meet Vietnam on their home field. You have to ask Vietnam, are they afraid of us or not.

Who is Xuan Son? Is Xuan Son very strong? But let him compete with Khemdee. I guarantee Khemdee is much stronger."

Accordingly, Xuan Son was the one who scored two goals to help Vietnam defeat Thailand 2-1. Notably, in the second goal, it was the Vietnamese striker who stole the ball from Chalermsak's feet and then passed the Thai defenders before shooting into the visitors' net.

Immediately after the match, Chalermsak posted an article on his personal page to apologize to his teammates and fans.

"I apologize for making a mistake in conceding the second goal. My teammates must have had a hard and difficult match. Once again, I apologize to the Thai team," Chalermsak said.

As for Xuan Son, he was voted the best player of the first leg of the final, and is currently leading the list of top scorers with 7 goals.
