Before the forecast of many widespread intense heat waves at the end of May and June 2026, on the afternoon of May 27, the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union proposed that affiliated trade unions strengthen solutions to care for and ensure safety for workers in the process of performing tasks on the field during peak heat waves.
According to assessments, the peak period of hot weather with harsh weather will create great operating pressure on the electricity industry. The increased workload in prolonged hot weather conditions can cause workers to be tired, reduce attention, increase the risk of labor accidents as well as affect health.
To ensure safe and stable power supply and absolutely protect the safety of workers, the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union requests affiliated trade unions to proactively coordinate with professional departments to propagate and mobilize workers to implement Joint Directive No. 86/CTLT-EVN-CDVN dated March 6, 2026 on emulation for safe, stable, and efficient power supply operation in the dry season and the harsh hot weather period of 2026.
In addition, units need to strengthen grasping the ideological situation, working conditions and health of workers directly in the field, working outdoors, and on high altitudes; and at the same time coordinate to review and arrange reasonable labor, adjust working hours to suit summer conditions, and limit prolonged work in extreme hot weather.
The Vietnam Electricity Trade Union also requested units to organize direct visits to the site, encouraging the spirit of workers working in difficult conditions and harsh weather. In addition to professional funding, trade unions proactively use trade union funds to support supplementing nutritional food, cooling water, and preventing dehydration to help workers recover their health in time.
The Vietnam Electricity Trade Union requests affiliated trade unions to seriously implement the above contents, and promptly reflect arising difficulties and obstacles for support.
