Have you ever complained about traffic jams, weather, or an unpleasant statement? Although complaining can sometimes help release air, according to neur surgeon Prashant Katakol at HealthCity Group Medical Center (India), constant complaints can cause serious damage to mental and physical health.
Mr. Katakol gave four reasons based on neurology to explain why people should stop complaining:
1. The brain is re- prolonged to move towards suffering
According to Dr. Katakol, each complaint is a time when the brain is trained to remember negative emotions. Over time, people who complain will gradually lose the ability to see the positive side of life.
2. Stress hormones overwhelm the body
When complaining, the body immediately triggers a stress response, secreting the hormone cortisol, which should only appear when people are facing a real threat.
This condition will cause a prolonged immune response, reduced concentration and make mood worse.
3. Only see the problem, no solution
The habit of complaining and complaining causes the brain to form a reflex that only focuses on troubles instead of finding solutions.
Dr. Katakol says the brain trains itself to only see problems, no longer recognizing abilities or opportunities. That explains why complaining people are often pessimistic, slow-witted, and easily lose confidence.
4. Negativity can cause brain atrophy
Not only affecting psychology, complaints also cause trouble in the hippo area, which is responsible for memory and learning. As a result, people with negative frequencies will study slowly, have poor memory and significantly impaired mental resilience.
Solutions
According to Dr. Katakol, the simplest but most effective way is to identify yourself when you are complaining. Say it loudly: I am complaining.
Laging emotions helps activate the brain area related to reason, thereby reducing negative levels.
The fewer complaints, the greater the joy and gratitude. Instead of focusing on what makes you uncomfortable, ask yourself, Is this worth it for me to lose my calmness?, it is the beginning of a more active, healthy brain.
