How to take care of green Dieffenbachia plants to prepare for Tet

The Dieffenbachia plant not only brings green beauty to the living space but also has good feng shui meaning to welcome the new year of the Snake 2025.

Dieffenbachia is a type of ornamental plant that is favored and chosen by many families to grow because of its ability to adapt well to many different environmental conditions.

Not only does it bring a green space, this plant is also considered a symbol of longevity, happiness, prosperity and is very suitable for Tet.

However, to keep the Dieffenbachia green and grow healthily, housewives need to pay attention to applying some appropriate care.

Among them, Dieffenbachia is known as a shade-loving plant but still needs light for photosynthesis. Choose to place the plant near a window or a corner of the room that receives natural light.

Avoid placing the plant in direct sunlight as the leaves can easily wilt. The ideal temperature for the plant to grow is around 20 - 30°C and the plant should not be placed in a place with strong wind or near heating devices in the room.

Proper watering also plays an important role in helping the Aglaonema plant grow well. The reason is that this is a plant that should only be watered when the surface soil is dry, avoiding over-watering that causes waterlogging.

In summer, the Dieffenbachia needs to be watered about 2-3 times/week, while in cold winter it only needs to be watered once/week. When watering the plant, use water at a moderate temperature, not too cold or too hot, and water evenly around the base of the plant. If you see yellow leaves, it is a sign that the plant is being watered too much and needs to be adjusted accordingly.

Adding nutrients will help the Dieffenbachia grow faster and have more glossy foliage. Use organic fertilizer or specialized fertilizer for ornamental plants, and fertilize once a month in spring and summer. In winter, housewives should limit fertilizing because the plant grows slowly.

Use specialized pruning shears to help the plant have a beautiful shape as well as remove old and wilted branches and leaves. Wipe off the dirt on each leaf with a damp cloth or spray lightly with water to help the plant photosynthesize better.

Although it is not susceptible to pests, the Dieffenbachia is still susceptible to attack by certain types of worms or fungi. If you see brown spots on the leaves, a lot of leaf fall or white mold on the soil, use a biological pesticide and ensure good ventilation around the plant to limit mold growth.

Taking care of the Dieffenbachia plant does not require too many complicated techniques, but it does require meticulousness and regularity. Applying the above instructions will help the Dieffenbachia plant not only bring beauty to the living space but also spread positive energy to be ready to welcome a happy and healthy Tet.
