The journey of victory of a girl with bone cancer

Thanh Hương |

Born in 2004 in Ha Tinh, young girl Le Thi An went through a challenging journey when she discovered she had bone cancer.

Le Thi An was diagnosed with bone cancer - a disease that forced her to choose between bone replacement and amputation of one leg. To save money and increase the chance of successful treatment, An decided to amputate her right leg - not an easy decision for a young girl.

In 2022, An completed the treatment regimen and from a beautiful, vibrant girl, An had to start getting used to a new life with only one leg.

At the end of 2023, she chose the Will to Live Center as her new companion. An wants to have a career so that even if she cannot help her mother, she can take care of herself so that her mother will no longer worry.

Here, after a 6-month course, An not only mastered technology skills but also regained confidence to integrate into life. Receiving a lot of help from teachers and friends, An got a job that matched her major.

Not only is she a resilient individual, Le Thi An is also an active member of the Vietnam Team at GiTC 2024. GiTC is an annual competition that brings together disabled youth from many countries in the Southeast Asian region.

The goal of the competition is not only to promote IT skills, but also to encourage self-confidence, the ability to integrate and affirm one's self-worth in the international community.

During the training and competition process, she and her teammates supported each other, creating a beautiful image of the spirit of Vietnamese people with disabilities.

"We are not only competing for ourselves but also carrying the pride of the Vietnamese disabled community" - An shared.

An now has a stable job, but she is not stopping there. She wishes to return to the Center for Living Power as a mentor, to continue to inspire and support young people in similar situations.

Coming to the program "Love Station", Le Thi An wants to share her story with many people with disabilities, to spread the message of love because life is still long ahead and each day of life means a lot of effort and trying.

"Giving disabled people a career is giving them a future. I hope I can help others overcome their inferiority complex and confidently integrate into society" - An shared with determination.

The program "Love Station" with the theme "Conquering yourself" will tell the inspirational story of Le Thi An at 10:00 on January 25 on VTV1 channel.
