Cabbage is one of the popular vegetables and brings many nutrients when cooking. According to research from Yale University (USA), eating a lot of cabbage will help supplement fiber, folate, potassium, magnesium, vitamins A and K..., while helping to reduce signs of aging, improve skin etc.
Therefore, housewives should take advantage of the spaces at home to grow cabbage as a source of additional clean vegetables every day.
Preparing "professional tools" to sow seeds
To grow cabbage at home easily, housewives need to prepare some simple "crafts" such as foam boxes, soil, fertilizers and gardening tools. Next, buy the soil and use scrapers to clear the soil, pouring all the soil into a foam box with a minimum thickness of 30cm. Then choose one of two methods of growing cabbage: sowing seeds or growing from seedlings.
For the method of sowing seeds, housewives should choose to buy good seeds at reputable stores. Soak the seeds in warm water about 50 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes before sowing the seeds on the soil.
For seedlings, the most important thing that housewives need to pay attention to is to try to choose healthy, non-pertensive seedlings that will help cabbage easily grow well when grown in foam boxes.
Proper care of cabbage
After finishing planting cabbage in a styrofoam box, don't forget to take time to water it regularly every day. You should spray fog to moisturize the soil to avoid flooding the cabbage plant. In particular, based on the weather conditions, housewives can water at a frequency of 1-2 times/day in the early morning and early afternoon.
Depending on the size of the styrofoam box, housewives need to balance to grow a reasonable number of cabbage trees. Normally, only a maximum of 2 trees should be planted in one canopy. Be careful not to place the trees close together because cabbage needs just enough space to grow.
After about 30 - 45 days from planting (or sowing), start fertilizing the plants by digging a suitable hole in the middle of the box and burying 15gr of potassium fertilizer and 6gr of protein fertilizer, water them. Use an additional 5g of dam manure mixed with water and continue to water the cabbage plant 1-2 times/week.
Harvest
With a time of 2 to 3.5 months, it will be enough time to harvest cabbage. Accordingly, the harvesting process will start from small to large trees. Hold the cabbage and pick it up sharply in an upright direction to ensure that the trees next to it are not affected. Or housewives can use a knife to cut off the roots and easily harvest cabbage.
After harvesting, the grandmothers should clear the soil, fertilize and leave it there for another 10-15 days before continuing to plant the new generation of cabbage trees.
