Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu emphasized when delivering the topic: Skills in directing the implementation of representative tasks, caring for and protecting the rights of union members and workers on October 5.
This is the last day of the training course, updating knowledge and skills for Chairmen of Provincial and Municipal Labor Federations, Central Industry Unions and heads of departments and units under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. The training course lasts for 5 days.
Delivering the presentation, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu said that the work of building legal policies requires the strength of the entire system. “We must recognize the importance of this work; this is a measure to protect workers from a distance, on a large scale and effectively,” Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu emphasized.
According to the Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, if good policies are developed, workers will enjoy many benefits. Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu gave an example: if workers' working hours are reduced to 44 or 40 hours a week, then the remaining 4 or 8 hours will be paid one and a half times, or double if they work, because this is overtime.
“Thus, tens of millions of workers will benefit. In addition, when they have enough salary to live on, they will spend time with their family and children, improving their health,” said Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu.
However, to build policies, the Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor said that not only at the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor level, but also from union officials at all levels discovered from real life.
In addition, to do a good job in building legal policies, it is necessary to invest in human resources, finance, and direction; coordinate well with functional agencies, thereby supporting and paying more attention to trade unions; participate in various forms (documents, reflections and recommendations on many areas related to workers)...
In addition, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu emphasized that job creation and unemployment are very important issues for any country. Therefore, trade unions need to try to create better jobs and keep better jobs for workers. At the same time, trade unions must actively participate in career transition for workers in the new context.
