Mr. Tran Van Dien (residing in Long My commune, Giong Trom district, Ben Tre province) is working at Jea - Must Vietnam LLC - said that his average income is about 5.5 million VND/month, just enough to cover his daily expenses. Therefore, the dream of building a house is beyond his reach. "My family is a poor household in the commune, so when I heard that the Ben Tre Provincial Federation of Labor supported 50 million VND, I was very happy. The family will use this money to build a house, said Mr. Dien.
Similar to Mr. Dien, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy (residing in An Ngai Trung commune, Ba Tri district, Ben Tre province) working at JSB International ViNa Company Limited - said that her family's circumstances are difficult, so her dream of building a house is very far away from her.
"Supported with 50 million VND for many people is a small amount of money, but for my family it is a huge amount of money... This amount of money will help me have more money to build a solid house, sure to live in" - Ms. Thuy confided.
Mr. Nguyen Phuc Linh - Chairman of the Ben Tre Provincial Labor Federation - said that since launching the "Back of Workers" Program at the end of October 2022, in 2 years (in 2023 and 2024), all levels of the Trade Union in Ben Tre province have mobilized philanthropists and benefactors to receive nearly 5.2 billion VND to support the construction of 108 houses for union members and poor or near-poor workers with difficult housing circumstances.
The Ben Tre Provincial Federation of Labor also supported the livelihoods of 21 families of union members and workers to have capital for livestock and production.
The model of supporting house construction and providing livestock loans of the Ben Tre Provincial Federation of Labor has proven to be very effective in helping union members and workers have a place to settle down and overcome difficulties. Thereby, 98 households have escaped poverty, 2 households have moved from poor households to near-poor households.
Chairman of the Ben Tre Provincial Federation of Labor Nguyen Phuc Linh informed that in 2025, implementing the movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the area, the Ben Tre Provincial Federation of Labor has supported more than 1.74 billion VND for district-level unions in the area to build houses for 29 union members and workers in especially difficult circumstances, from social mobilization sources.
In the coming time, the Ben Tre Provincial Federation of Labor will continue to accompany union members and workers on the journey to escape poverty, increase income, stabilize life and sustainably reduce poverty, said Mr. Linh.
