No more working 2-3 jobs a day
Currently, thanks to the production situation and guaranteed company orders, Ms. Nguyen Thi Den - a worker at Tan Phu Thanh Industrial Park, Hau Giang province - no longer struggles to work 2-3 extra jobs to improve her year-end income.
It is known that during the 2024 Lunar New Year, due to the company's difficulties, Ms. Den's salary is not much. To have money to spend during Tet, this female worker has to take on 2-3 jobs, from rice planting to weeding to improve her income.
Currently, this female worker's income is about 9 million VND/month including overtime, and the company supports food and transportation costs for workers. After deducting family expenses, Ms. Den saves 3-4 million VND/month.
“At the end of the year, the company has many orders so I have to work overtime often to keep up with the schedule. There are days when I come home late at night and am tired, but thinking about having more money to buy cakes and Tet gifts gives me more motivation to try harder,” said Ms. Den.
After the company announced the expected Tet bonus, Ms. Le Thi Thu - a worker at a garment company in Can Tho City - was excited and planned to return home early to celebrate Tet with her family. "I was just informed by the line manager that depending on seniority and job position, there will be different bonuses, ranging from a few hundred thousand to a million VND. Last year I received a bonus of 8 million VND, I hope this year it will be higher, I will return home early and not stay to work overtime like every year," Ms. Thu said.
“All union members and workers have Tet”
According to the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Can Tho City, a total of 824 enterprises (with 49,427 employees) reported on the salary situation and Tet bonus plan for 2025.
Regarding the Lunar New Year 2025 bonus, there are currently 559 enterprises planning to give Tet bonuses; 265 enterprises have not planned to give bonuses. Of which, the highest expected Lunar New Year 2025 bonus is 300 million VND (private enterprises); the average bonus is 5.65 million VND; the lowest bonus is 200,000 VND (private enterprises).
Although the company has planned to give Tet bonuses, Ms. Thu is not in a hurry to shop for Tet early but waits for union care programs and the Trade Union Tet Market to buy at affordable prices.
“When I go to the Union Tet Market, I get discount coupons, some items are free of charge, so I save money.I wait until closer to Tet to go to the Union Tet Market, and wait until I receive my Tet bonus before going shopping,” said Ms. Thu.
In Hau Giang, in order to take good care of union members and workers during the Lunar New Year 2025, the Hau Giang Provincial Federation of Labor has developed a plan to organize many practical activities.
According to the plan, the subjects of care during Tet are all union members and workers, with priority given to union members and workers in especially difficult circumstances, those who have had work accidents, occupational diseases, serious illnesses, natural disasters, storms and floods, reduced working hours, or lost their jobs; union members and workers who have not had the opportunity to return home for Tet for many years...
With the motto "All union members and workers have Tet", Hau Giang Provincial Federation of Labor requires all levels of the local union to review and grasp information about union members in difficult circumstances, promptly mobilize social funds to support gifts such as cash, goods, and give Union Shelters, especially support train and bus tickets, arrange vehicles to return home to celebrate Tet for workers working far away and unable to return home to celebrate Tet.
