Increase low-contact operations
Da Nang Port is a pioneer in digital transformation in the Vietnamese Seaport system. In particular, the Electronic Port (ePORT) and Automatic Container Gate (Auto Gate) software have been visited, studied and applied by many domestic units.
This is also the first smartgate smart container gate applied at Vietnamese ports, to facilitate drivers, cargo owners and shipping lines.
The software helps to control container trucks entering and leaving the port via a smartphone application, applying many technological solutions such as: Recognizing container codes using the ACCR algorithm combined with AI; recognizing license plates of tractors/trailers; controlling the opening and closing of barriers, reading electronic scale indicators; using robots to execute commands; sending information via the driver's phone app.
Customers can do procedures anywhere with internet connection, shorten delivery time, save costs in printing, storing records and documents, all information is digitized.
According to Mr. Tran Le Tuan - General Director of Da Nang Port, being a pioneer in digital transformation is one of the important reasons why in the past 5 years, Da Nang Port's key indicators have all achieved very proud numbers, each year is higher than the previous year, the income and life of workers are stable and growing.
Although during this period, the world economy as well as Vietnam's economy has been negatively affected by many factors. Many businesses have had to face difficulties, production interruptions and changes in operations.
“The strong application of digital transformation has greatly contributed to increasing the level of low-contact operations at Da Nang Port. At the same time, it ensures that customers can interact anytime, anywhere in the digital space. The software projects, IT infrastructure and technical infrastructure, and equipment that we have invested in and put into operation are all customer-oriented, providing the best service quality for customers.
These factors, combined with the policy of putting customers at the center and putting customer care first... have helped us attract nearly 40 container lines, with 18 container shipping lines opening direct routes to the port, in which many of the world's leading shipping lines are present at the port such as: Wanhai, SITC, Yangming, Maersk Lines, Evergreen, MSC, CMA-CGM, ZIM...", said Mr. Tran Le Tuan.
7 times honored for workers
Da Nang Port is the 8th largest enterprise in Da Nang city and 750th among the 1,000 largest enterprises paying corporate income tax in Vietnam. At the same time, over the past years, the average import-export tax revenue at Tien Sa Port has always increased and accounted for over 80% of the total import-export tax revenue of Da Nang city.
However, according to Mr. Tran Le Tuan, what makes him happiest and proudest is the recognition and appreciation of his work in caring for his employees. Da Nang Port is the only port among the enterprises of Vietnam National Shipping Lines (VIMC) to date to receive the title of "Outstanding Enterprise for Employees" for 7 consecutive years organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
“People are the foundation of development! That is our consistent viewpoint. And to reinforce this point, over the years, all of Da Nang Port’s activities have revolved around the theme of how to make the lives, environment and working conditions of workers better and better so that they can feel secure in staying with us for a long time,” said Mr. Tran Le Tuan.
It can be said that Da Nang Port is a place where the care for employees is very good with many dream policies. For example, in addition to 100% of employees at the unit participating in health insurance with an annual contribution of 3.5 billion VND and almost never late payment.
Since 2017, Da Nang Port has implemented the purchase of high-quality health insurance for all employees in the Port with the highest support level of up to 4 million VND/day, in order to best care for the health of employees. The total health insurance expenditure that Da Nang Port spends on average 1.4 billion VND per year.
Not only that, from 2021, employees at Da Nang Port can base on the Insurance Purchase Contract of Da Nang Port with the service provider (Bao Viet) to be able to register to buy Health Insurance for their relatives with many attractive benefits and incentives.
In particular, in 2022, with the advice of the Union, Da Nang Port organized to collect opinions from all employees, adding to the Collective Labor Agreement the content of the benefit of purchasing life insurance for all employees.
“We boldly implement Life Insurance for employees to attract, maintain and develop a team of qualified personnel, ensuring the company's human resources develop sustainably, stay long-term, and feel secure in developing their careers.
At the same time, it helps workers improve their lives, have more finances for their future plans and their families, ensure a comfortable life, financial independence, and protect against risks in life during work," Mr. Tran Le Tuan explained.
With this very humane policy and purpose, up to now, more than 600 qualified employees (seniority, work history) have been registered by Da Nang Port to buy life insurance with a term of 10 years.
In the following years, Da Nang Port will gradually add more employees who are eligible to enjoy life insurance policies. The total value of the 1-year Life Insurance Contract of Da Nang Port is about 15 billion VND.
