In the atmosphere of the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025, the small boarding house located at 79/4, Tran Thanh Mai Street, Tan Tao A Ward, Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City became warm and full of connection, when the owner of the boarding house, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Hong (38 years old) just organized a special year-end party for the poor workers who are renting here.
This is a special event not only because it is a party for the New Year, but also because of the affection and heart of the landlord for the workers and laborers who have been struggling to make a living.
Ms. Hong said that this year she made 6 banquet tables, of which 4 tables were reserved for the workers renting the room, one table was for the guests and one table was for the neighbors.
Each table, each dish, is carefully and meticulously prepared with rustic, familiar dishes but full of Tet flavor such as grilled cassava cake, pork skin cake, fresh spring roll, grilled chicken with banh mi, fruit... all are prepared by the landlord and the sisters in the boarding house together.
And what made this party special was that it was different from any other Tet party in previous years, Ms. Hong invited 4 people to perform for the residents in the boarding house. The sweet songs and cheerful melodies dispelled all the worries and fatigue of the workers in the past year.
In particular, Ms. Hong also organized a lottery program with 6 attractive prizes for workers and tenants. The bright smiles and happy eyes of the workers when receiving the prizes and lucky money made the Tet atmosphere even more cozy and full of love.
Currently, this boarding house has about 70 people, each person here has a different situation, a different story, but this year's Tet, they experienced the reunion and warmth of a family.
Mr. Phan Van Khoe, a worker living in the boarding house, shared: "I used to work at a steel factory with a salary of 8 million VND/month, but last year, the company encountered difficulties, my wife and I both lost our jobs, so life was quite difficult. When we heard that the owner was organizing a year-end party and giving lucky money, my wife and I were very excited."
Not only a party, this is also an opportunity for workers in the dormitory to meet, bond, erase distance, create intimacy between strangers in daily life. Daily stories, concerns about work and family are gradually shared, comforted and sympathized with each other.
Ms. Hong could not hide her joy when sharing: “Although I am not rich, this year, my family decided to organize a year-end party to celebrate a warm Tet with everyone. We hope that this party will help workers and laborers have a chance to relax, reduce worries and difficulties at work, and feel the love and warmth among workers like us.”
