Knowledge and skills training
Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh - President of the Da Nang City Labor Federation - said: Since the beginning of the term, the Standing Committee of the City Labor Federation has developed a plan to improve awareness and political capacity, and organize training on knowledge and skills in trade union activities for union officials from the group level and above.
Especially the chairmen and vice chairmen of grassroots trade unions in units and enterprises with more than 500 employees and cadres participating in the trade union executive committee for the first time.
The training content focuses on dialogue skills at the workplace, skills to monitor compliance with legal regulations at the workplace and negotiation skills to sign collective labor agreements because this is the content that brings the most practical benefits to union members and workers.
The team of specialized union officials continues to receive in-depth training in skills to participate in building and reviewing legal policies, fostering financial expertise and advocacy and persuasion skills.
The trade union organized the contest "Good Trade Union Officer" to create a playground for officials to exchange and learn from experience; promptly commend, encourage, and reward union officials who do their assigned tasks well.
In addition, the emergence of many new professions opens up many opportunities for workers, but also leads to many changes in the identification of labor relations, requiring trade unions to truly innovate in their methods of operation and forms of gathering workers; trade union officials must innovate in their thinking and working methods, and must improve their knowledge and skills to be a reliable support for workers, a solid political and social foundation of the Party and State.
Concrete goals into actions
According to Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh, at the 17th City Trade Union Congress, term 2023-2028, Da Nang City Trade Union identified 3 breakthroughs including: Focusing on dialogue, collective bargaining, bringing benefits to union members and workers, focusing on wages, bonuses, working conditions and hours.
Build a team of grassroots union chairmen that meet the requirements of the task, especially union chairmen in non-state enterprises. Carry out comprehensive administrative reform and digital transformation in the union system, prioritizing the areas of union member management and finance.
The city's trade union directs trade unions at all levels to concretize the term's goals into programs, plans, and competition targets. "We pay special attention to the informal workforce in the technology driving industry, teachers in private independent kindergartens, as well as freelance workers in many other service industries.
This is a relatively large workforce, contributing significantly to the city's development, but working independently and individually, the Trade Union needs to gather to take care of and support them better. The goal is to establish grassroots unions in enterprises with more than 10 employees, and establish grassroots unions in industries with many freelance workers," said Ms. Linh.
According to Ms. Linh, welfare for union members, workers' cultural institutions, social housing projects, workers' housing, and solutions to help workers avoid falling into the black credit trap are big problems today.
“The city's trade union has surveyed and grasped the needs of workers to develop a long-term welfare plan for union members, while making efforts to advise the city's leaders to soon issue preferential loan packages for workers, speeding up the implementation of social housing projects from the city budget and socialized sources,” said Ms. Linh.
At the same time, in enterprises, the Standing Committee of the Da Nang City Labor Federation has been and is having many effective solutions to improve the quality of Collective Labor Agreements with core contents on wages, labor contracts, working hours, working environment, and health care for employees.
