Opportunities and pressure for workers
After the merger, the Central Government expects Da Nang to become a new growth pole of the country, a financial, commercial, innovation, and high-tech center of the region.
The private economy is developing, science - technology, digital transformation are being strongly promoted, new economic models such as digital economy, circular economy, green economy... are gradually taking shape.
In that picture, the workforce and laborers no longer just work on simple lines, but must master modern technology and equipment, adapting to the production requirements of " greener, smarter". They need not only vocational skills but also digital skills, foreign languages, soft skills and high sense of discipline.
In fact, the working class in the city has been promoting its core role in the industrial - agricultural - intellectual alliance. The young workforce is increasingly dynamic, capable of accessing new technology, having industrial style, and good discipline.
However, according to Mr. Le Van Dai - Permanent Vice President of the Da Nang City Labor Federation, the Da Nang workforce still has limitations such as: low labor productivity, a part of workers still lacking vocational skills, lack of opportunities for retraining; lacking cultural institutions, housing, and health services for workers; unpaid wages and insurance debts still appear in some places.
Those challenges require the Trade Union not only to protect its immediate rights, but to participate deeply in the process of building a modern working class - considering this a strategic, long-term task.
Improving the qualifications, skills and status of workers
According to Mr. Le Van Dai, during the past term, Da Nang trade unions at all levels have actively coordinated with authorities and enterprises to implement many training and development programs to improve the qualifications of union members and workers.
The female workforce alone has more than 35,000 people who have been given the opportunity to study and develop political theory, professional qualifications, and professional skills - a number that clearly shows the effort to "not leave anyone behind" in the modernization process.
The trade union focuses on linking emulation movements with improving skills and improving techniques. The movements "Good workers, creative workers", " digitization of civil affairs", "The whole country competes for innovation and digital transformation" were widely implemented, encouraging workers to register for initiatives and technical solutions.
Tens of thousands of initiatives have been recognized for their great value, many union members have been awarded the Creative Labor Certificate by the General Confederation of Labor, and honored at the National Patriotic Emulation Congress for workers and civil servants.
In addition, the Trade Union actively participates in building a learning society, mobilizing workers to study all their lives, participate in training courses, and improve skills. This is a fundamental solution for workers to adapt to the trend of automation and digitalization, avoiding the risk of "elling out" the labor market when businesses innovate technology.
From a political-ideological perspective, the Trade Union has introduced more than 5,000 outstanding union members for the Party to consider, train and admit. These are not only numbers but also signs of the maturity of the political will of the working class in the new context.
Da Nang aims to become a "centre of innovation, creativity, high technology and national startups", a pioneer in the digital economy and green economy.
To realize that aspiration, it is indispensable that a modern and strong working class and the Trade Union be the "head" force, creating an environment for workers to mature, becoming "digital citizens", "digital workers" of the new era.
