On August 6, at the construction sites of the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen power line, a working delegation of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union (VTP) led by Mr. Do Duc Hung - Chairman of the VTP Trade Union - visited and encouraged more than 600 engineers and workers of the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) who are directly constructing the key project.
The working group visited the construction teams at the positions of pillar 342 (Ha Tinh Power Transmission Team), pillar 373 (Thanh Hoa Power Transmission Team) and pillar 378 (Hoa Binh Power Transmission Team) - locations with complex terrain, with an altitude of up to 80-90m. At the construction site, the Vietnam Construction Trade Union has donated a total of 228 million VND to support and encourage the spirit of workers during the peak construction period from August 6-8, 2025.
Speaking at the construction site, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Do Duc Hung said that this is a key project of EVN in 2025, with profound political significance to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), which needs to be completed and energized before August 19, according to the Government's direction in Official Dispatch No. 81 dated June 3, 2025 of the Prime Minister.
EVN Group has mobilized more than 600 elite engineers and workers from power transmission units under EVNNPT. They are people with good health, extensive experience, and the ability to construct in harsh terrain conditions, harsh heat, and the height of the columns is up to nearly a hundred meters. In addition, the police, military, youth unions, etc. forces also accompany on the construction front, demonstrating their determination to complete the noble political tasks assigned by the Party, Government and people" - Mr. Do Duc Hung shared.
The Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also requested that trade unions at all levels continue to pay attention to and fully care for the material, spiritual and health lives of workers. At the same time, the construction team needs to strictly follow the technical procedures, ensuring absolute labor safety and construction quality.
The 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project is one of the national urgent key projects, approved by the Prime Minister in the investment policy and given special instructions in Official Dispatch No. 81 dated June 3, 2025.
The groundbreaking ceremony of the project was held on March 16, 2025 in Vinh Phuc, with the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and many leaders of central and local ministries and branches. The project has a total length of 229.5km, passing through 4 provinces: Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, with 468 foundation locations, with a total investment of over VND 7,410 billion.
When completed, this line will transmit about 3,000 MW from the Northwest region to the national grid, contributing to ensuring energy security, enhancing regional connectivity and reducing power losses.
