The main job of Mr. Dang Van Hau (34 years old, Nam Dinh) is a shift worker (a stage in the sewing line). Mr. Hau said that he always tries to finish his work early to do other tasks assigned by the Manager.
"The work I'm doing is assigned weekly output, so I always try to speed up the process to finish early so I can do other jobs," said Mr. Hau.
According to the male worker, if he concentrates on working at a fast pace, he can finish the job in 1.5 hours each day. During this time, Mr. Hau will do other jobs such as buttoning, hooking, buttonholes, overlocking...
Talking about his experience in other jobs, Mr. Hau said that he had done it before so he was confident in accepting the job. Even if he did not know the job, the male worker advised everyone to take the initiative to learn to improve their skills.
According to Mr. Hau, part-time jobs can bring in an income of 2.5 to 3 million VND per month depending on the stage. This amount of money helps him feel that his working day is valuable, while also ensuring a better family life.
“Doing many jobs helps me improve my skills and feel less bored, not wasting time. Having an extra 2 to 3 million VND each month also helps me buy more delicious food and nice clothes for my wife and children,” Mr. Hau shared.
Ms. Pham Thi Vy (30 years old), a garment worker in Thai Binh, said that to have a high salary, workers must know many things.
"If you want a high salary, in addition to being quick, proactive, and creative, you also have to be willing to take work home to do," said the female worker.
Ms. Vy said that, when she joined the company, although her main job was to sew the waistband, she still learned and did other steps such as: "stitching the waistband, patching, sewing hems, using 1-needle and 2-needle machines...".
When she knows a lot of things, the team leader can confidently assign work to the workers. Knowing how to do many steps helps Ms. Vy always have products to make, creating better output than others.
Because if you don't know how to do it, when you finish the main job, you have to wait until there is a new product to continue working, so the output is low and the salary is not high.
Female workers also take advantage of their free time on Sundays to ask the manager to let them take their products home to work on to increase their income. According to Ms. Vy, the manager never refuses those who know the job and do it well.
Sharing about her income, Ms. Vy said that if she only relied on her main job, her salary would only be about 9 - 10 million VND. When she did other jobs, her income increased by more than 2 million VND, and if she brought the goods home to work, she would earn more than 1 million VND.
According to the female worker, nothing is difficult if you dare to spend time learning and persevere and make an effort.
“Knowing how to do many jobs not only helps increase my income but also makes me dynamic, outstanding and less likely to be unemployed in the face of the increasingly strong development of machines in the future,” said Ms. Vy.
